THE WAR IN WALES THAT NEVER WAS - WW II - WHAT IF HITLER's INVASION HAD MADE IT AND OCCUPIED BRITAIN - WHAT OF WALES THEN?

That the UK Government thought this a serious matter can be seen in the lengths they went to in setting up of the 'Home Guard' and the final third line defence in form of preparing a secret underground Resistence Movement. None of this became needed but nevertheless was seriously organised and made ready for such eventuality, two things have prompted me to do this post, the one coming across a reprint of the the WW II Home Guard Manual by Tempus Publication:

Secondly, my attention has been drawn to a book by Owen Shears now being made into a film, an Alternative History What If The Germans had invaded the British Isles:

There is however a contemporary serious side to this, if and when Wales becomes Independant do we seek to establish a Welsh Army, this matter has from time to time been discussed by Welsh Nationalists, inc WRM I and Plaid Cymru. However generally Cultural Welsh Nationalism is overwealmed by a sense of pacifism, see below link:

    1. However, there is a small radical Patriotic Fringe that has played around with the idea of going ahead and establishing a Welsh Army, I am of course talking about the FWA still today a myth amidst 'militantly minded' Welsh Nationalists, search FWA on web and see links below:

However, lets not go back down that road but more examine the need one day to establish in Wales a Welsh Army or as I prefer a National Volunteer Defence Force based on the Territorial Army more or less an 'Home Guard'. I cannot see a situation where Wales would be invaded but if Independent might have to contribute to U.N. needs and requirements, in a capacity as may be required. I do not think Wales should shirk international responsibilities here but not as allies in aggressive wars but more as military aid in defence of oppressed peoples or even in disaster relief. Think on it and to assist further in D&D see below links:
