This month's issue as a special supplement feature on Battlefield Preservation, the contents of which are as follows: Where and how to get help, Shared Interests, Preserving Hallowed Land, Saved Sites of the Civil War, A Word From Jim, Save Sherrifmuir, Battle of Green Spring, Lionheart Film Works, Blore Heath, Battle of Peleiu. This is a must read magazine and especially this month's supplment which is of great use to all I'r Gad enthusiasts, if you cannot obtain copies at your local newsagent then contact publishers via www.skirmishmagazine.com/
.
.This April 2008 issue is full of useful information but of partcular interest take note of the Campaign to save Sherriffmuir, now this should be a clarion call to those in Wales concerned about our battlefields, see www.clan-macrae.or.com and Scottish matters in www.battlefieldstrust.com . However, enthusiast must get up and active, no not by joining societies that only end up as talking shops and wasting time with ''national meetings'' every month, you will achieve much more locally yourself or by setting up a local Battlefield Interest & Campaign Group (see previous posts on this subject). You then work with bodies as Cadw, CT & NT, not least RCAHMW who will have more influence on these matters than anyone else, not least in respect to the O.S. By all means contact myself if any queries, and most certainly contact I'R GAD Welsh Battlefield Campaign, if it comes to a Campaign to save a Battlefield site. However, at moment we need more I'r Gad enthusiasts to get out and about seeking locations and checking out prevailing site status quo as also regards site condition at moment, do inform myself for my database. Then yourselves get active as I have suggested here and in previous posts to this blog. But we do need action on this not just thinking about, so with summer on the horizon and if weather's good you can get out and about and do some good at same time. So, read Skirmish supplement and get enthused!
