I had intended for my May BH 'Escape' to go to the Clun Festival but having attended Fortress Wales event at Margam, on a very down cast and windy day decision was made to tour parts of Ergyng/Archenfield instead. This land were once the Eastern Lands of the Celtic Tribe - Silurians, their Eastern Boundary being in area of Goodrich Castle. You will also note in this area Welsh Bicknor with it's excellent YHA centre, think I will establish my annual 'Camp Gethin' here. Sure as hell will beat as location 'Camp Adam' in Corris, plus there is an interesting local Pub, see info below. On the whole the area is terrific for an 'Escape From Depressing Surrendering Welsh Nat Reality', but note doing an 'Escape' my way is far from relaxing. Hours in a car often getting lost in lanes with a SatNav driving one nuts with a constant stream of confusing instructions that do not all the time match road signs, am I the only one who argues back with Modern Technology or is that an 'Age Thing' or what? Anyway, cannot say my old bones can cope with going up and down twisting stairs in Castles, did three in one day before we even got to Goodrich. So later in day betime I got to Symonds Yat just could not make the walk to Yat Rock, sure was K******! I am still aching today with 'Castle Fatique', the 'Old Soldier' is just slowly fading away it seems but, before I do completely note for more postings on this tour of duty into the BLAENAU DIROEDD see my other blogs:
URDD BRENHINOL CYMRU and MUDIAD COFIWN also note new Blog coming on line kind of associated to this and other of my histories is ANACHRONISM AM BYTH! Much in association with my Blog; ASSYRIAN ROD!
