Below is some rather crude pre Personal Computor produced material I did for a Cofiwn event to commemorate this crucial battle in Welsh History, crucial because the Normans have England 'in the bag' more or less and are well on the borders of Wales. At this moment in time there errupts a major civil war in Wales, the outcome of which weakens Powys and Glywysing making those Gweldydd easier for the Normans to over run but at same time lays the foundations for stronger Gwledydd in Dehuebarth and Gwynedd which are able to resist the Normans. However, what if it had been the other way around would it have been better in the long run with the Welsh in Powys and Glywysing being becoming major stronger Gwledydd able to stand off the Normans. Fascinating stuff for some alternate history work, go over and see my blog: ASSYRIAN ROD for the Alternate History enthusiast.

I republish here now to remind RCAHMW and Cadw of this Battle Site and prompt they to make sure it gets on the fourth coming Welsh Battlefield Register and in the book and series of leaflets you will be producing on Welsh Battlefields, you are doing such yes? Like the booklet and Brochures you did for the Welsh Land Scape, news to you but it's something on my shopping list as would be an Illustrated History of Welsh Medieval Warfare but a Welsh Publisher could get on with doing that as well as an illustrated Wall Chart depicting sites of Welsh Battlefields (see next post) both of which would be ideal educational aids to distribute to Welsh Schools.

Yes, I left the 'R' out of Brwydr, after all these years just spotted the mistake. But never mind my mistakes rather get on with setting up your local Welsh Battlefield Study Group to amongst other things lobby RACAHMW & Cadw about your local battlefield making it to the register. Note these bodies are seeking your 'input' also note Cadw's Five year Heritage Tourism - European Union Funding Project which provides money for a great deal, including signs and so fourth, now get busy asap.
